It's almost hard to believe reading this. I would have thought there'd be many psychonauts out there on the nexus and DMT reddits that would have given this a go and reported on it. Well if there wasn't before, I am sure there will be now.

Nice to see you back on here again too, mate!

Success!! Did it and it worked. Let me start by saying that I know several changes that I will make to ensure better results next time. I used 30g of powdered mimosa bark and 125ml of filtered water. Soaked twice and strained through a paper coffee filter.

The solution was mixed in an AG1 drink container which didn't have a lot of surface area so I'll use a bigger container next time. Also, when trying to squeeze the mixture the coffee filter broke and a little of the powder fell into my glass. I already have a better filter for next time.

Onset happened at about an hour. Unfortunately, I had just given up and eaten a sandwich and gone to bed. Once I got in bed I started to notice fantastic geometric sharp pointed images with small caption boxes filled with scrolling letters and numbers. It was all gibberish yet I seemed to understand some meaning from it.

There was no nausea or sickness of any type. I did notice a feeling in my head and stomach at times but it wasn't unpleasant. The taste wasn't great but I've had worse. I didn't use any honey or any sweetener but I may use it next time.

On the next attempt I'll double the dosage and be more patient.

I am very interested to learn more about the recipe of that "Reality Sandwich" you are mentioning :-p.

Joke aside, great and informative article as always Andrew!

I literally could not stop reading this. Like a mystery story, but without a solution to the mystery. It seems that there must be one or more compounds with MAO inhibitory activity in there somewhere. It's just a question of funding them.

Sounds so simple. Why aren’t more people trying this? Thanks for the knowledge revival!

Fascinating! I wonder why this isn't more widely known? It seems to fit right between the brief roller coaster of smoked DMT and the long expeditions of Ayahuasca/LSD/fungi...

Thank you, you are remarkable. Fabulous research as always. Strangely, I have have some of this dye in my pantry.

Ayahuasca analogue is a misnomer here. An orally active DMT concoction, yes. But it isn't comparable to ayahuasca, beyond perhaps some overlap in the visionary realm. As I know you know, ayahuasca is the name of the vine itself, as well as the brew. That isn't likely happenstance. The vine is held in esteem for its own properties, and is used by some groups without any admixture constituents. The purgative characteristics of the vine are considered an important and valuable element in working with this plant. I think "Businessman's Ayahuasca" as a title is taking some poetic liberty to give a sense of what the article describes, and that seems ok. But to then refer to it as an ayahuasca analog misses the mark. For someone who writes with your precision, in my opinion, you ought not call it that.

Aside from this squeaking, I offer deep bows for all the work you do. Love the books and stoked to hear another one is in the works.

Very interesting

I do however see a potential microbiological risk.

Any views on the effect of pasteurising the bark by using 70-80 C water?

A thought I had is that maybe some people have their MAO inhibited all the time through their normal diet, and these people don't need an extra MAO inhibitor. Curcumin, found in turmeric, is a MAO inhibitor, for example. Many foods seem to contain MAO inhibitors. Tobacco also contains MAO inhibitors.

Huge disappointment! I followed the instructions to the letter and 70 mins in nothing!

The brew tasted utterly vile so I would keep the honey until afterwards has been drunk if you are going to give this a try.

Once I got the brew down there was no nausea or upset stomach just flushing to the face and a slight headache, but other than that nothing!

Aw well back to the drawing board!

Also a technical question. Did you change the name of this Substack or stop having posts go to the mobile app? I was for sure subscribed to this, but when I clicked here via X today it made me resubscribe and I realized I haven’t been getting your posts... weird. Even when I look now, this isn’t showing up on my app feed.
